CAREER TRANSITION COUNSELING

MAIN OBJECTIVE

To help the client through a job change event, either company or self initiated.

There are four main phases in the program:

Phase 1: Assessment
Establish trust and credibility with the client; provide a confidential sounding board for him/her; help client conduct self-assessment of their strengths and weaknesses, personality preferences and career options; help to make decisions in their career plans.

Phase 2: Job Search Strategy and Marketing
Help client develop a focused job search strategy and marketing activities; how to approach the market (networking strategies and skills); letter writing skills; follow-up tactics.

Phase 3: Personal Presentation
Help the client develop effective presentation skills telephone networking and interviewing situations.

Last Phase:
AFS Consulting becomes the project manager/coach/drill sergeant, leading up to advising the client in deciding on the offer(s) that will finally come in!

This program is approximately 20 hours of counseling in 10 two-hour segments over a 2-3 month period. To meet more limited needs or budgets we can customize a shorter (8 hour) program. AFS Consulting's comprehensive Job Search Manual is supplied with each program as well as access to the AFS career search engine.
